Listening With The Whole Body
April 25 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
$35
Sensory Awareness is a body based practice of inquiry into the natural intelligence of our senses. Rather than trying to fix or improve ourselves, we begin by noticing what is already here. Through direct experience, we rediscover the quiet clarity of the sensing body.
As the mind settles, perception becomes more vivid. The ordinary becomes alive. Contact with the floor, the movement of breath, the subtle impulse to turn or reach. In this workshop we explore the living body as a landscape of sensation, impulse, and truth. With simple movements, pauses, and guided explorations, we listen to the nervous system and allow spontaneity to emerge naturally. The session unfolds as a two hour journey that includes individual exploration, relational exercises, and shared reflection.
The emphasis is on direct discovery, grounded awareness, and the courage to feel what is real. Eyal Yona is a Sensory Awareness leader and acupuncturist based in the New York area. He has practiced Buddhist meditation and somatic work for over a decade, studying closely with teachers from the lineage of Charlotte Selver. Elizabeth Dabney Hochman has been practicing meditation for 20 years, with a particular emphasis on Dzogchen. She is also a tai chi enthusiast, a lifelong classical musician, and loves working with young people at KidSpirit, a nonprofit that she founded.
