Our purpose is not to make living healthier, but to make it more conscious.”
- Charlotte Selver
Sensory Awareness is a practice of coming into direct contact with our immediate experience — noticing sensations, movement, and breath as they unfold.
Sensory Awareness is an experiential practice that invites us to rediscover a natural birthright: an embodied sense of authenticity, vitality, and connection. By paying attention to the living moment — the touch of air, the pull of gravity, the rhythm of breath — we awaken to the richness already present in our lives.
We don’t need complicated techniques or special exercises. We are sensing all the time. What’s new is learning to meet our own experience with curiosity and openness, rather than staying “in our heads,” as is common in Western culture.
This simple shift often brings a feeling of coming home: to ourselves, to each other, and to the world around us.

What Happens in a Class or Workshop
In classes, workshops, or one-on-one sessions, you’ll be guided through simple sensory explorations that bring awareness to everyday life.
- Feeling the pull of gravity and your body’s natural balance
- Following the flow of breath as it rises and falls
- Noticing the quiet vitality in small, ordinary movements
- Sensing moments of clarity and ease as they arise
- Discovering a deeper connection with yourself, others, and the living world
A Living Legacy
The spirit of this practice continues through the programs of the Sensory Awareness Foundation and the many teachers of the Sensory Awareness Leaders’ Guild worldwide. Together, they carry forward Charlotte Selver’s vision, helping people everywhere rediscover the profound wisdom of the ordinary.
